Who we are
VenueSpotter is run by Donal Doran, trading as VenueSpotter, based in Ireland. For anything about this notice or your information, email hello@venuespotter.co.uk.
No cookies and no tracking
This website does not use cookies, analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind, and it loads nothing from any other website. That is why there is no cookie banner.
The free trial form
What we collect: your business name, your name, your work email address, the area you cover, your type of business, and any message you choose to add.
Why: only to reply to your request and set up a trial if you want one. We rely on taking steps at your request before any agreement (Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR) and on our legitimate interest in replying to business enquiries (Article 6(1)(f)).
How long we keep it: we delete trial requests automatically 12 months after we receive them. Ask us and we will delete yours sooner.
Who sees it: only us. We do not sell it or share it. It is stored on our server, which is hosted by Hetzner Online in Finland, in the EU. If we reply by email, see “Emails you send us” below.
Protecting the form from abuse: to stop automated spam, we keep a scrambled, one-way code made from your internet address for 24 hours. It cannot be turned back into the address. Our web server does not keep a log of visits. The server's system logs can record technical errors, which may include an internet address; they are kept for no more than 30 days.
Emails you send us
Email sent to hello@venuespotter.co.uk passes through Cloudflare, which looks after our domain name and forwards the email to our mailbox. Our mailbox is Microsoft's Outlook.com service, which stores the emails you send us and our replies.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or send it to you in a portable form. You can also object to how we use it. Email hello@venuespotter.co.uk and we will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission in Ireland (dataprotection.ie). If you are in the UK you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
The venue information we publish
The lists we send to customers are made of public information about businesses, not people:
- Council licence applications. Councils publish applications for premises licences so that the public can comment on them. We record the venue, its address, the kind of licence and the dates. Where an applicant is an individual rather than a company, we do not record their name.
- The Food Standards Agency food hygiene register, and in Scotland Food Standards Scotland's Food Hygiene Information Scheme. Both are published as open data under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Where a business is registered under a person's own name, we remove the name and keep only the business address and type.
Removing a business: if you run a business on our lists and would like it removed, email hello@venuespotter.co.uk with its name and address. We will take it out of every list we produce from then on. We cannot recall lists that customers have already received.
Changes
If we change this notice we will update it here, with the date.
