New pubs, restaurants and cafés in the North East, often weeks before they open

For the firms that supply them. One email each Monday with the new food and drink venues across Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, County Durham and Teesside, so you can get in touch while they are still setting up and choosing suppliers.

New venue: a place we have not seen trade at that address before. New operator: a new business taking over premises where another food business traded, such as a pub under new owners.

How early you hear

Earliest news: often weeks before opening

A venue that wants a licence to sell alcohol has to say so publicly before it can open, often weeks before the doors open. We have this for 12 of the North East's 12 areas so far:

  • County Durham
  • Darlington
  • Gateshead
  • Hartlepool
  • Middlesbrough
  • Newcastle upon Tyne
  • North Tyneside
  • Northumberland
  • Redcar and Cleveland
  • South Tyneside
  • Stockton-on-Tees
  • Sunderland

New food businesses: before or around opening

Every new food business has to tell the authorities before it opens. We check every day, across all 12 North East areas, and pick out the ones just starting up.

Sources: many public records and published sources. We do our very best to keep people's names and home addresses out of the lists. If one slips through, email hello@venuespotter.co.uk and we'll remove it.
